Convenient onsite mobile fit testing is conducted in compliance with occupational health and safety

All it takes is approximately 10 minutes per employee to conduct a comprehensive test. It could literally save their lives. It doesn’t matter which industry you are in, or how busy you are, you really need set aside 10 minutes.

The fit test is performed before the employee is required to wear the respirator in the workplace. We suggest you test your new employees as part of their orientation, and then annually thereafter. It is a legal requirement to have these tests performed annually, as per Worksafe BC and Canadian Standards Association guidelines.

Important Information on Facial Hair and Respirators

When wearing a respirator that requires a seal with your face, you must be clean shaven where the respirator seals with your face. This helps to make sure your respirator can protect you from breathing contaminants. Please ensure that you are clean shaven prior to the fit test.

What Does Clean-Shaven Mean?

You must have shaved before the start of your shift. You may need to shave again during your shift or prior to the fit test if your beard grows quickly enough to interfere with the respirator's seal.

Does it Really Matter if There's a Bit of Stubble on my Face?

Stubble prevents the mask from forming a good seal with your face. Stubble may seem small, but its a huge when compared to dust, mist, fibers, fume particles and gas vapors. Stubble under a respirator seal creates plenty of room for these contaminates to enter your mask.

Relative Sizes

Compare human hair, glass fibre, asbestos fibre, fume particles. If there is enough room for a hair between your skin and your respirator, there is room for many contaminants to enter.
